Conference & Corporate Event Photographer in Brighton & Sussex
I cover conferences, corporate events and charity celebrations across Brighton, Sussex and the South East, from annual healthcare and third sector conferences to corporate hospitality balls and charity fundraising evenings.
My background is in press photography, which shapes how I work at every kind of event: quietly, efficiently, and with enough experience to anticipate what matters rather than react to it after the moment has gone.
Annual Conference Photography: Brighton & Sussex
I work regularly with organisations running annual conferences, covering the main room, breakout sessions, keynote speakers, networking breaks and delegate moments across the full day. Press photography teaches you to work across multiple spaces without disrupting proceedings, and that transfers directly to conference work, particularly in environments where sessions are running simultaneously and there’s no margin for error.
I’ve been cleared to work at government-level secure conferences, so sensitivity around access and discretion in high-stakes environments isn’t new territory. I also work regularly at healthcare and third sector events where consent management and sensitivity around delegates is built into the brief from the start. The images from these jobs typically feed into annual reports, websites and social media, so I’m always building a gallery that works across all of those rather than shooting for a single destination.
Where it’s been agreed in advance, I can provide a same-day edit of a small curated selection for immediate social media use. A lot of the energy around a conference happens on the day itself, people sharing images, hashtags running, organisations posting while the event is still current, and having a handful of strong images ready within hours makes a real difference to that.
Full edited galleries are delivered to an agreed timeline, with high-resolution files ready for web, print, social media and annual report use.
Corporate Event Photography: Balls, Galas & Themed Evenings
I’ve covered the Kia annual Spring Ball for several years, a themed corporate hospitality event for their head office team that changes concept each year, most recently a Hollywood-themed evening with red carpet arrivals, live performances, speeches and dancefloor coverage. For events like this I work from a running order, positioning myself for key moments like speeches and performances while moving freely during the less structured parts of the evening to capture atmosphere and the people enjoying it.
The brief for a corporate ball is typically broad: room detail shots, arrivals, candid moments during drinks, the formal programme, the energy of the room once the evening opens up. I’m used to covering all of those in a single shoot and delivering a gallery that gives each element proper weight rather than being heavy on one at the expense of others.
Corporate Staff & Celebration Day Photography
For internal staff celebration days, such as the Licensed Trade Charity’s annual Colleague Celebration Day, the brief is about something slightly different: documenting a dispersed team coming together, capturing awards and recognition moments, and giving the leadership team images that reflect the culture and energy of the organisation. These images typically feed into internal communications, annual reports and social media, so they need to work across all of those from a single shoot. Corporate away days and group activity events are a regular part of my work too, following the flow of the day. That might be team interactions, informal networking, branded moments and people enjoying themselves.
Charity Fundraising Balls & Gala Evenings
I cover charity fundraising events including the Martlets Hospice Halloween Ball, where the photography has to balance the celebratory atmosphere of the evening with the purpose behind it. Donors, supporters and organisers all need to appear in imagery that reflects well on the cause, so the editing and selection process is just as important as the shoot itself.
How I Work as a Conference & Event Photographer
I use silent shooting throughout, and available light wherever possible to avoid disrupting sessions or performances. For conferences I’ll work across the venue as the day progresses, covering the main room for scale and atmosphere before moving into smaller sessions where I can work from a fixed position without being intrusive. I move between spaces during natural pauses, questions from the floor, applause, changes of speaker, rather than mid-session.
For evening events I work from a programme where one exists, positioning myself ahead of key moments rather than reacting to them. Speeches, performances and awards presentations are the non-negotiable shots, everything else is built around them.
I’m also used to working alongside other suppliers: AV teams, video crews, other photographers. At a corporate ball or conference there’s usually a lot happening at once, and fitting into that without creating additional coordination overhead is part of the job.
For conferences and professional events where delegates may prefer not to be photographed, I’m experienced in working with formal consent systems including coloured lanyard systems, as well as the less formal but equally important process of reading a room and adjusting accordingly. Nobody ends up in an image they’re uncomfortable with, and nobody needs to be asked twice.
The images from conference and event work feed directly into the same commercial and brand contexts as my wider commercial and business photography work across Brighton and Sussex, annual reports, marketing, recruitment, and ongoing social content. If you’re building a visual library for your organisation rather than covering a one-off, that’s a conversation worth having before the brief is finalised.
