Business Photography in Brighton & Sussex - Plus Accounting Case Study

I’ve worked with Plus Accounting for over 10 years, creating a library of business photography in Brighton and Sussex that they use across their website, social media and marketing.

This isn’t a one-off shoot. It’s something we come back to every few years, adding to what’s already there so the images stay current and keep reflecting the business as it grows.

I’m a business photographer in Brighton, working with companies across Sussex to create consistent, long-term image libraries that support their marketing.

Creating a Consistent Brand Photography Library

When we first started working together, the aim was to move away from stock imagery and show how they actually work with their clients.

Plus Accounting aren’t a traditional accountancy firm. Their approach is built around relationships, ongoing support and getting properly involved in the businesses they work with. That wasn’t coming across in their existing visuals.

Vicky King, their Director of Marketing Services, wanted photography that felt real. Not staged, not overly corporate. Just honest interactions between their team and their clients.

It was also important to show the range of sectors they work in. From creative industries and tech through to hospitality, healthcare and property, they’ve got a really varied client base, and that needed to come through visually.

In a busy Brighton market, standing out matters. This was about making them feel more approachable while still looking professional.

My Approach to Business Photography

As a business photographer in Brighton, I’m always thinking about how these shoots fit into something bigger than just one session. Each shoot is built around real meetings between Plus Accounting and their clients, usually at the client’s workplace.

Vicky puts together a list of clients that represent different sectors, and from there I plan the shoot knowing I’ll need to be flexible once I arrive.

We normally have about an hour at each location. I’ll already have a clear idea of what we’re aiming to achieve based on the client list Vicky sends through, so there’s always a plan in place before I arrive.

Once I’m on site, I’ll quickly assess the space and adapt that plan to suit the reality of the environment. Every location is different, so there’s always a bit of problem solving involved, but it’s about working efficiently rather than figuring things out from scratch, this is where my background as a press photographer really comes in handy.

The key is making sure we use the time well without it feeling rushed, so we can get a strong variety of images that work for both their website and wider marketing.

The focus is always on interaction. I’ll give direction where needed, but I keep it relaxed so people don’t feel awkward. The accountants already have good relationships with their clients, so it’s about letting that come through rather than forcing anything.

At the same time, I’m thinking about how the images will be used. Their website relies on banner images, so I make sure we get strong wide shots, along with a mix of tighter images for social media and general marketing content.

We also try to bring in something from each client’s space so the images don’t all feel the same. That might be:

  • an accountant in the dentist’s chair during a shoot at a Brighton dental practice
  • chatting over coffee in a busy hospitality setting
  • walking through a co-working space
  • or sitting in a children’s playhouse at a nursery

Those details make a big difference. They give each set of images its own identity and help show the range of businesses Plus Accounting works with.

Challenges of Business Photography in Real Client Environments

These shoots are very different from a standard brand shoot as they take place in real working locations.

There’s also a balance to get right. The client’s business needs to be the main focus, but you still need to show the relationship with Plus Accounting.

Because this work has been built up over a number of years, consistency becomes a key part of the process. New images need to sit alongside the existing library without looking out of place, while still reflecting how the business has evolved.

Results and Impact

The images are used across everything they do. Website, social media, printed materials, exhibition banners and marketing photography.

Because there’s a good mix from each shoot, they’re not repeating the same images all the time. The library keeps growing, and they dip into it whenever they need something.

It’s also helped them show what makes them different. They work with a wide range of sectors, including a lot of creative businesses, and the photography reflects that. People can see themselves in the images, which makes a difference.

For their marketing, having a solid bank of images makes things much easier. There’s always something relevant to use, rather than scrambling to find content.

More than anything, it backs up what they’re already saying. They talk about building strong relationships with their clients, and the photography shows that happening.

“Working with Liz has been effortless and has helped us move away from stock imagery and really showcase who we are. The result is a bank of photography that feels genuine, reflects our clients, and supports everything we do from a marketing perspective.”
— Vicky King, Director of Marketing Services, Plus Accounting

Long Term Brand Photography in Sussex

This kind of work is about more than just one shoot.

By coming back every few years and adding to the image library, Plus Accounting have built something that grows with them. This kind of brand photography in Sussex gives them a consistent set of images they can use across their marketing, while still keeping things fresh over time.

For businesses in Brighton and Sussex, especially in competitive sectors, that consistency across your marketing goes a long way.

Build A Stronger Image Library For Your Business

If you’re relying on stock imagery or a handful of outdated photos, it’s hard for your marketing to reflect what your business actually does.

A well-planned image library gives you the flexibility to show your work, your clients and your personality across your website, social media and marketing.

This can start with a single shoot. With the right planning, you can create a strong bank of images straight away, and then build on it over time if and when you need to.

That’s exactly how I’ve worked with Plus Accounting, and it’s a model that translates well across different sectors. For example, I’ve taken a similar approach when creating a full image and video library for a specialist veterinary practice in Brighton, where the focus was again on building a set of images that could support their website, marketing and long-term communications.

If you’re based in Brighton or Sussex and want to create a set of images that genuinely represent your business, get in touch to talk through how we could build a set of images that works for your business marketing long term.
