Commercial Business Photography in Brighton - OralVet Referrals Case Study
When OralVet Referrals launched in Brighton, they needed a complete set of commercial photography and video content to support a brand new specialist practice. The project involved creating a library of business and brand photography, alongside video content designed to support their website, marketing and ongoing communications.
Led by Rachel Perry, one of only 11 veterinary dental specialists practising in the UK, the clinic focuses on referral level veterinary dentistry and oral surgery for cats and dogs. As an independent, specialist-led practice, it was important that the imagery reflected both their clinical expertise and a calm, compassionate environment.
Their audience includes both referring vets and pet owners, so the content needed to balance professionalism with approachability, showing the level of care, equipment and experience behind the Brighton business.
The Brief
This was a full content build for a new business.
The aim was to create a consistent image library that could be used across their website, social media and marketing.
The brief included:
- Individual and team headshots: Capturing the expertise of the team.
- Brand photography: Highlighting the state-of-the-art dental suites and equipment.
- In action reportage: Real-life captures of procedures and patient care.
- Video production: A Welcome to OralVet video and two talking head introductions for the vets.
- General reportage: The team at work and with patients and pet owners.
Planning the Shoot
With a background in press photography, I’m used to being thrown into fast-moving environments and making things work on the fly. I carried out a brief site visit to understand the space, the light and how the clinic worked day to day. This meant I could properly plan the photography and video rather than figuring it out on the day.
The clinic is a high-spec, modern environment with specialist dental equipment. Visually, it already had a strong, premium feel. The challenge was to capture that without it feeling too clinical or impersonal.
Photography and Video in a Live Clinical Environment
A key part of this shoot was working around a real procedure. A cat who comes in regularly for a check-up and clean.
This allowed me to capture genuine veterinary photography rather than staged images, but it also meant the shoot had to fit around what the team were doing. I created a loose plan so everyone knew what we needed, while keeping things flexible as the day unfolded.
I worked alongside the team, capturing real interactions, real procedures and the way the clinic actually runs. During the procedure itself, I stayed out of the way while positioning myself in the best available spots to capture both stills and video. By setting up video shots to run while shooting stills, I was able to capture a wide range of content efficiently without interrupting the clinical work. For a specialist practice like this that real life look is important as it shows both referring vets and pet owners exactly what the environment is like.
Managing Headshots and Team Photography
Not everyone is comfortable in front of the camera, especially at work. I always take the time to speak to people beforehand, understand any concerns and adapt how I work depending on the individual. Some people need more time and relax into a shoot, others prefer things to be quick and straightforward.
Creating a relaxed environment makes a big difference to the final images.
What Was Delivered
Across two visits, I created a full content library of over 200 images and three videos, giving OralVet Referrals everything they needed to launch and market the business properly.
The photography included:
- Veterinary headshots
- Team photography
- Candid clinical work
- Client and pet interaction
- Equipment and environment detail
Alongside this, I produced:
- A welcome video to the clinic
- Two talking head introduction videos
This content now runs across the OralVet Referrals website, helping to create a strong first impression and clearly communicate the level of care and expertise they provide.
The Result
OralVet Referrals now has a complete, professional image library that reflects their position as a specialist veterinary dental practice in Brighton and Sussex.
The imagery helps communicate:
- Clinical expertise and specialist equipment
- A calm, well-run environment
- A high standard of care for both pets and clients
Starting from scratch with your website imagery?
Building a full library of photos and video for a new site can feel like a logistical headache, but it doesn’t have to be. With my press background, I’m used to jumping into busy environments and working around the “real work” without getting in the way. I specialise in building these image banks from the ground up delivering a professional mix of stills and video while keeping the whole process calm and stress free. If you need high quality content that makes your website look as expert as you are, I’d love to help.
